Getting magnesium

Industrial method of obtaining based on the proposed by Michael Faraday, the method of separation of this metal from a molten chloride salts. The main problem of the production lies in the multi-stage processing of raw materials with subsequent extraction of the high purity metal. Molten metal are systematically taken from the electrolytic bath and in it add a new portion of raw materials. Since the thus obtained metal contains a relatively large number (about 0.1%) of impurities, if necessary, raw magnesium is additionally treated.
