Technical characteristics
Tungsten electrodes with the cerium (groups EWCe-2, according to the AWS classification) contain a minimum 97,30% tungsten and… of 1.80 to 2.20% cerium. These electrodes work best when welding with direct current at low current values, and can be effectively used in welding alternating or direct current. Application
Like thorium, tungsten-cerium electrode is best used to weld carbon and stainless steels, Nickel alloys and titanium. It is not recommended to use tungsten electrodes containing ceria, at high welding currents. When such welding modes, the oxides of cerium actively migrate to the heat source at the end, removing the oxide content in the welding process.
