It is important to note that in a fairly wide temperature range (from minus eighty to plus one hundred degrees Celsius), the linear expansion coefficient of Invar is practically unchanged. Most often, a material with such a marking is used in the production of accurate measuring and control equipment, which, against the background of sensitivity to not very large temperature differences, can maintain unchanged geometric dimensions. Also a similar material is used in the production of bimetallic compounds, its combination with some other steels can improve the original properties of the original source. Sometimes this raw material is produced by the method of smelting by vacuum-induction method, in this case the symbolism of «VI» is added to the labeling of the product.
